Day 203: Your First Client Presentation

At an advertising agency in Guadalajara, Aracely (A), the department head, calls in Ana Karen (B), a new colleague, about Monday's meeting with a client who owns a chain of ice cream shops.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Oye, quiero que el lunes le presentes tu propuesta al cliente.

    Listen, I want you to present your proposal to the client on Monday.

  2. B

    ¡Ay, qué nervios! Bueno, ya tengo treinta diapositivas listas.

    Oh, I'm so nervous! Well, I've already got thirty slides ready.

  3. A

    ¿Treinta? Lo importante con este cliente es ser breve: déjalas en diez.

    Thirty? The important thing with this client is to keep it short: cut them down to ten.

  4. B

    ¿Nada más diez, licenciada? Lo difícil va a ser escoger cuáles quito.

    Only ten? The hard part will be choosing which ones to cut.

    Quita las de puros números: el cliente se duerme a la tercera gráfica.

    Cut the ones that are all numbers: the client nods off by the third chart.

  6. B

    Está bien. Ojalá que no se duerma en mi primera presentación.

    All right. Let's hope he doesn't nod off in my first presentation.
