Day 213: Saturday Off for My Sister's Quince

At a car dealership in Puebla, Sergio (A), a young salesman, goes to see his manager, Octavio (B), about his Saturday shift.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.

    Excuse me, boss, do you have a minute? I wanted to ask you for Saturday off.

    ¿Este sábado? Normalmente es el día que más vendemos.

    This Saturday? That's normally the day we sell the most.

    Es que mi hermana cumple quince, y por eso le estoy organizando la fiesta.

    It's just that my sister's turning fifteen, so I'm organizing her party.

    ¡Qué bonito! Te doy el sábado, pero necesito que me cubras el domingo.

    How nice! You can have Saturday, but I need you to cover Sunday for me.

    Claro que sí. Aunque, sinceramente, me va a doler perderme el recalentado.

    Of course. Though, honestly, I'll hate missing the recalentado, the leftovers party the day after.

    Bueno, llega al mediodía. Eso sí, me traes un plato de mole.

    OK, come in at noon. But you're bringing me a plate of mole.
