Day 215: The Rings Stayed in the Hotel

An hour before a wedding in Tequisquiapan, Querétaro, Salomón (A), the padrino de anillos (in charge of the rings), rushes up to his friend Paulina (B), one of the bridesmaids.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.

    Don't panic, Paulina, but I left the rings at the hotel.

    ¡Pero la misa es en una hora! ¿En el hotel de la carretera?

    But the service is in an hour! At the hotel on the highway?

    Ese mismo, y con tanto turista hago media hora de ida.

    That's the one, and with all the tourists it takes me half an hour just to get there.

    Tranquilo, conozco un camino que pasa por los viñedos y es mucho más corto.

    Calm down, I know a road that goes through the vineyards, and it's much shorter.

    ¡Eres un ángel! Vámonos, pero ahora se me perdieron las llaves.

    You're an angel! Let's go, but now I've lost the keys.

    Las traes en la mano, Salomón. Mejor dámelas: yo manejo.

    They're in your hand, Salomón. Better give them to me: I'll drive.
