Day 43: Candelaria Tamales at the Office

In an office in Toluca on February 2, Candelaria Day, Lucio (A), a junior employee, greets his boss, Alberto (B), next to a table of tamales (whoever finds a baby figure in the rosca, the ring cake shared on January 6, brings tamales on this day).

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    They smell delicious! Are they yours, or did someone send them to us?

    Son míos. Me salió el muñequito en la rosca.

    They're mine. I got the baby figure in the rosca.

    ¡Es cierto! ¿Y por qué todos son de dulce?

    Oh, that's right! So why are they all sweet ones?

    Porque usted también sacó uno. Los de salsa nos los debe.

    Because you got one too. You owe us the ones with salsa.
