Day 14: Swapping Mexico City for Tepoztlán

In Mexico City, Camila (A) asks her older brother Bruno (B), who works from home, about his idea of moving to Tepoztlán, a small town in Morelos.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Do you really want to move to Tepoztlán? Mom told me.

    Sí, ya estoy harto del tráfico. Si viviera allá, pagaría menos renta.

    Yes, I'm fed up with the traffic. If I lived there, I'd pay less rent.

    Si vivieras allá, ¿qué harías los domingos? Se llena de turistas.

    If you lived there, what would you do on Sundays? It fills up with tourists.

    Madrugaría para disfrutar la tranquilidad antes de que llegaran.

    I'd get up early to enjoy the peace and quiet before they arrived.

    Ajá, pero dicen que allá te quedas aislado: tienen el peor internet del mundo.

    Uh-huh, but they say you're cut off there: they've got the worst internet in the world.

    Por eso voy a probar un mes. Si no funciona, me regreso.

    That's why I'm going to try it for a month. If it doesn't work out, I'll come back.
