Day 157: No Pills Before the Wedding

At a doctor's office in Morelia, Yuridia (A), a young woman whose sister is getting married soon, sees her doctor, Edmundo (B).

How to study this lesson 3 steps

    Doctor, 驴me receta unas pastillas para bajar de peso? Mi hermana se casa en mayo.

    Doctor, could you prescribe me some pills to lose weight? My sister's getting married in May.

    No se recomiendan: aceleran el coraz贸n, y en cuanto se dejan, se recupera todo el peso.

    They aren't recommended: they make your heart race, and as soon as you stop taking them, all the weight comes back.

    Es que en cada comida familiar me dicen que ya estoy muy llenita.

    It's just that at every family meal they tell me I've gotten kind of chubby.

    La acabo de pesar y est谩 en su peso. 驴Y usted c贸mo se siente con todo esto?

    I've just weighed you, and you're a healthy weight. And how do you feel about all this?

    Perd贸n, no quer铆a echarme a llorar. Ya estoy hasta el gorro de los comentarios.

    Sorry, I didn't mean to burst into tears. I'm just sick and tired of the comments.

    Le receto otra cosa: coma de todo, camine diario y vea a una psic贸loga.

    I'm prescribing something else: eat a bit of everything, walk every day and see a psychologist.

    Est谩 bien. Y si mi t铆a se pone a opinar de mi plato, son 贸rdenes del doctor.

    All right. And if my aunt starts commenting on my plate, it's doctor's orders.
