Day 43: Nobody Leaves Their Desk at Lunch

At a team meeting in a call center in Torreón, the manager, Horacio (A), asks two agents, Jazmín (B) and Erick (C), what would help them move around more during the day.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.

    OK, team, we've all gotten very sedentary. What would help you move around more?

    Between one call and the next, the day just slips away, and I don't even get up.

    Yo ayer comí en el escritorio. Lo que urge es caminar después de comer.

    Yesterday I ate at my desk. What we really need is a walk after lunch.

    Sale, pero ¿quién contesta mientras ustedes caminan?

    Fine, but who answers the phones while you're out walking?

    Podemos turnarnos: la mitad sale y la otra contesta.

    We could take turns: half go out and the other half take the calls.

    Órale. Yo salgo con el primer grupo, que a mí también se me pasa el día.

    All right. I'll go out with the first group, because the day slips away from me too.
