Day 65: Four Hours a Day from Texcoco

At an office in Santa Fe, Mexico City, Lidia (A), the department head, calls in Ingrid (B), a new colleague who has asked to speak with her.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.

    Come in, Ingrid. I heard you wanted to talk to me. Is everything all right?

    Sí, licenciada. Es que desde Texcoco me hago cuatro horas diarias, ida y vuelta.

    Yes. It's just that from Texcoco it takes me four hours a day, round trip.

    ¿Cuatro horas? Me alegra que me lo digas; es importante que no llegues agotada.

    Four hours? I'm glad you've told me; it's important that you don't arrive worn out.
