Day 205 of 265

Day 205: Sore Knee After Futbol Rápido

At the end of a game of futbol rápido, small-sided soccer on an indoor field, in Tijuana, Rubén (A) runs over to his friend Víctor (B), who has just fallen.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

  1. A

¿Estás bien? Te caíste bien feo.

Are you all right? That was a nasty fall.

  2. B

Me duele la rodilla, pero probablemente no es nada.

My knee hurts, but it's probably nothing.

  3. A

Deberías ponerte hielo, y el sábado no deberías jugar.

You should put some ice on it, and you shouldn't play on Saturday.

  4. B

¿Cómo que no? ¡El sábado es la final!

What do you mean, no? Saturday's the final!

  5. A

Por eso. En la final te necesitamos con las dos rodillas.

That's exactly why. In the final we need you with both knees.
