Day 215 of 265

Day 215: Training for the City Marathon

At home in Mexico City, Juana (A) is worried about her adult daughter (B), who is training for the city's marathon.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

  1. A

Mija, corres todos los días. Deberías descansar por lo menos uno.

Honey, you run every day. You should rest at least one day.

  2. B

Pero hay días que corro tranquilamente, mamá. Eso es descansar.

But there are days when I take it easy, Mom. That's resting.

  3. A

¿Y cuántos kilómetros corres esos días? Podrías correr menos.

And how many kilometers do you run on those days? You could run less.

  4. B

    Ya corro menos. Solo dieciocho.

I already run less. Only eighteen.
