Day 56: Replacing Grandma's Lost INAPAM Card

At home in Durango, Guillermina (A) can't find her INAPAM card, which gets older people their discounts, so her daughter Lidia (B) and teenage grandson Iván (C) help her book a replacement online.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.

    I've turned the house upside down and my INAPAM card is nowhere to be found. How am I going to get my discounts now?

    No se apure, mamá: para la reposición se saca cita en línea. Iván, léenos los pasos.

    Don't worry, Mom: for a replacement you book an appointment online. Iván, read us the steps.

    A ver: “Agendada la cita, acuda al módulo con su INE, su CURP y un comprobante de domicilio”.

    Let's see: “Once your appointment is booked, go to the office with your INE card, your CURP and proof of address.”

    ¿Comprobante? Ando buscando el recibo del agua: lo guardé tan bien que ni yo lo encuentro.

    Proof of address? I've been looking for the water bill: I put it away so carefully that even I can't find it.

    Siga buscando, mamá: ya quedó la cita para el jueves a las diez. Iván, ¿qué más dice?

    Keep looking, Mom: the appointment's booked for Thursday at ten. Iván, what else does it say?

    “Llegando al módulo, tome su turno. Concluido el trámite, se le expedirá su nueva credencial”.

    “On arrival at the office, take a number. Once the procedure is complete, your new card will be issued.”

    ¡Aquí está el recibo, en el sobre del predial! ¡Y miren nomás qué venía adentro!

    Here's the bill, in the property tax envelope! And just look what was inside!

    ¡Es su credencial, abuelita! Ahorita cancelo la cita, pero me debe unos tacos por hacerla de secretario.

    It's your card, Grandma! I'll cancel the appointment right now, but you owe me some tacos for playing secretary.
