Day 62: Reviewing a Horror Movie for Class
At their prepa (high school) in Toluca, classmates Elián (A) and Abigail (B) have to agree on a grade for the joint review of a Mexican horror movie they are writing for their literature class.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Lazy? The fact that it was all a dream explains the business with the clocks stopped at three.

That's cheating. If it was all a dream, nothing matters and the suspense goes out the window.

It was the girl's fever. The director said he'd planted clues from the very first scene.

What clues? All I saw were cheap scares: creaking doors and a creepy doll.

The thermometer on the bedside table was there from the start. Hey, did you really finish it?

Yes, at 1.5 speed: it was really late. The fact that I missed a few details doesn't change anything.

Of course it does: the movie isn't lazy, you are. You're watching it again today, without speeding it up.
