Day 65: Heat Waves and the Classroom Thermometer
After class at a middle school in Mexicali, Andrés (A), a student, asks his science teacher, Mr. Alberto Salinas (B), about a news report on heat waves.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.

And what else do you notice? Compare the thermometer in the parking lot with the one by the mesquite trees.

The one in the parking lot reads about four degrees higher. So the more asphalt, the more heat, right?

Exactly, and the less shade, the worse. Even if one summer turns out cool, the trend doesn't change.
