Day 27: Is the Jaguar Video Real?

In a café in Torreón, Axel (A) and Carla (B), friends who run a fact-checking account together, examine a viral video of a jaguar strolling through a hotel lobby in Tulum.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    The jaguar in the Tulum lobby is doing the rounds even in my aunts' group chat now.

    Pues fíjate en el letrero borroso de atrás: termina en “ção”, con colita en la c.

    Well, look at the blurry sign in the back: it ends in “ção,” with a little tail on the c.

    ¿Portugués? Y en la tele del fondo pasan la final de la Copa América 2019, lo cual ya es mucha casualidad.

    Portuguese? And the TV in the background is showing the 2019 Copa América final, which is a bit much for a coincidence.

    Calma: un letrero y un partido no prueban nada, y en Tulum hay hoteles de brasileños.

    Easy: a sign and a game don't prove anything, and there are Brazilian-owned hotels in Tulum.
