Day 144: Her Asthma Eased in Cuetzalan

At a health center in Cuetzalan, a misty town in the Sierra Norte de Puebla, Raquel (A), a young woman who moved there from Mexico City to work remotely, has an asthma check-up with her doctor, Gerónimo (B).

How to study this lesson 3 steps

    Doctor, desde que me mudé de la Ciudad de México casi no uso el inhalador. ¿Será casualidad?

    Doctor, since I moved from Mexico City I've hardly used my inhaler. Could it be a coincidence?

    No creo que sea casualidad. Aquí casi no hay tráfico; por lo tanto, respira un aire mucho más limpio.

    I don't think it's a coincidence. There's hardly any traffic here, so you're breathing much cleaner air.

    Eso sí, la humedad es otra historia: aquí la ropa nunca se seca.

    The humidity is another story, though: clothes never dry here.

    Justo ese es el problema: con tanta neblina sale moho, y el moho le empeora el asma.

    That's exactly the problem: with so much fog, mold grows, and mold makes your asthma worse.

    ¿Y qué haría usted en mi lugar? Mi casa es de las antiguas.

    So what would you do in my shoes? My house is one of the old ones.

  6. B

    Yo en su lugar compraría un deshumidificador y abriría las ventanas los días de sol.

    If I were you, I'd buy a dehumidifier and open the windows on sunny days.

    ¿Los días de sol? En Cuetzalan serán dos al mes, así que mejor compro dos aparatos.

    Sunny days? In Cuetzalan there must be about two a month, so I'd better buy two machines.
