Day 16: He Helped Build This Metro Line

On Line 3 of the Mexico City Metro, Demetrio (A), a retired civil engineer, notices that Diana (B), the young woman next to him, is reading engineering notes.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Go ahead. It was the hardest project of my life, so I learned a thing or two.

    Tengo dos ofertas: la constructora más grande del país o una chiquita.

    I've got two offers: the biggest construction firm in the country or a small one.

    Si quiere aprender de todo, escoja la chiquita. Si quiere buen sueldo, la grande.

    If you want to learn a bit of everything, pick the small one. If you want a good salary, the big one.

    Entonces ya sé cuál me conviene. Gracias, ingeniero, me bajo aquí.

    Then I know which one's right for me. Thank you, sir, I'm getting off here.
