Day 178: Tryouts at the Club Academy
In Querétaro, Mayela (A) drives her son Nahúm (B) home from the visorías, the tryouts where a professional soccer club picks boys for its youth academy.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.

You've been very quiet since we got in the car, Nahúm. Did the tryouts go that badly?

I don't think they'll pick me, Mom. The coach I got didn't even notice me.

The one in the red cap? I saw him writing something down every time you got the ball.

Seguro apuntó el penal que fallé. ¡Y el portero al que se lo tiré era el más chaparrito!
He probably wrote down the penalty I missed. And the goalkeeper I took it against was the smallest one there!

I doubt they'll rule you out over one penalty. By the way, that man asked me for my phone number.
