Day 25: A Canceled Flight and No Refund
In Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Gael (A) tells his friend Itzel (B) about the airline that canceled his flight to Cancún a month ago; Profeco is Mexico's consumer protection agency.
How to study this lesson 3 steps
- Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
- Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
- Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.
Dialogue
Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

No way! Put in a complaint with Profeco; you do it online.

¿A poco sirve? Dudo que alguien le haya ganado a una aerolínea.
Does that actually work? I doubt anyone's ever beaten an airline.

A mi prima le devolvieron todo. Espero que hayas guardado los correos.
My cousin got all her money back. I hope you've kept the emails.

Todos, menos el de la cancelación. Ese lo borré del puro coraje.
All of them except the cancellation one. I deleted that one out of sheer rage.

B
Ay, Gael. Revisa la papelera; ojalá que no la hayas vaciado.
Oh, Gael. Check the trash, and let's hope you haven't emptied it.
