Day 3: Fewer Lab Hours at Exam Time

At a UNAM research institute in Mexico City, Andrés (A), a student who works as a research assistant, asks Dr. Ramírez (B), the professor who runs the lab, about his hours during the exams.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    I doubt we'll finish without you. What about one week off and the other part-time?

    Me parece justo. Vengo en las mañanas para que nada se retrase.

    That seems fair. I'll come in the mornings so nothing falls behind.

    De acuerdo. Pero si adelantan la entrega, lo platicamos otra vez.

    Agreed. But if they move the deadline up, we'll talk about it again.
