Day 77: Counseling Before the Thesis Defense

At the psychology department of a university in Monterrey, Luis Fernando (A), a student, goes to see his thesis advisor, Professor Irma Garza (B), shortly before his thesis defense.

How to study this lesson 3 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Point at (or tap) a Spanish word to see what it means.
  3. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Spanish, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    You look exhausted, Luis Fernando. Have you been able to sleep?

    Casi nada. Y lo peor es que estudio psicología: debería saber manejar el estrés.

    Hardly at all. And the worst part is that I study psychology: I ought to know how to handle stress.

    I thought it was for serious cases. Besides, I'd be embarrassed if people saw me.

    It was set up after the pandemic for exactly this. The important thing is not to wait.
